Safety information
We want your experience to be safe, enjoyable, and memorable for years to come. To ensure this, please follow these safety guidelines:
- Riders must be at least 6 years old. There are no height restrictions.
- Dress appropriately for the day’s weather, especially in the summer, as temperatures inside the balloon can be 5-10 degrees hotter than outside. Avoid overdressing.
- Wear sneakers or hiking shoes for proper support. Sandals, heels, and open-toed shoes are not allowed in the balloon.
- We cannot accommodate passengers who are pregnant.
- We do not fly in stormy weather or rain. In the event of inclement weather, flights can be rescheduled or refunded.
All of our experienced pilots are FAA commercially and FAA medically certified, and have thousands of hours of combined flight experience. We are committed to safety and uphold the highest standards of passenger service.
All passengers flying with Brookside Ballooning are required to sign a liability release. For those under 18, a parent or guardian must co-sign. You will be provided with the release form to sign before your flight, and you can also review or print it ahead of time.
SAFETY & FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What is the length of a flight?
Each flight lasts about 1 hour in the air, with the entire balloon ride experience taking 2 to 3 hours. Our crew handles all aspects of the journey, from preparing for takeoff and launching to tracking and meeting us at our landing spot. Afterward, we’ll transport both the balloon and all passengers back to the launch site.
What should I bring?
Bring a camera or smartphone to capture the experience (and make sure you have enough memory space!). Please leave purses and large bags on the ground or with the crew, where they will be safely stored.
Is there a feeling of motion in the balloon?
No, there’s no sensation of motion because the balloon moves with the wind at the same speed. In fact, ballooning feels like the absence of any sensation. Passengers often describe the experience as “tranquil,” “calm,” and “relaxing.”
Are restrooms available?
It’s a good idea to use the restroom before arriving at the launch site, as restrooms may not be available depending on the season.
What should I wear?
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
I’m afraid of heights. Will ballooning bother me?
No, there is no physical connection between the balloon and the ground, unlike a tall building. This sense of complete freedom tends to ease any feelings of apprehension or anxiety.
What happens after the flight?
After landing, the ground crew will meet us and transport everyone back to the launch site, where we’ll celebrate your flight with a toast. Champagne, soda, water, and light snacks will be provided.
Should I tip?
Gratuities are not included in the flight certificate price and should be given directly to the crew members individually.
